Phishing Scam Alert: FMCSA has been notified of multiple phishing scams targeting training providers. The phishing emails include the following subject lines:

  • [Action Required]: Information Verification – Final Reminder.
  • IMPORTANT: FMCSA Information Verification required

FMCSA will never send email requests seeking personal or payment information. Be sure to verify if an email is coming from a @dot.gov email address and do not respond to or click links in any suspicious emails. Training providers should follow your company or agency policy if you receive a phishing scam email.

If a driver wants to remove the “no air brake” (L), “no full air brake” (Z), or the “no manual transmission equipped CMV” (E) restriction from their CDL, are they required to complete entry level-driver training?

No. Drivers applying for a removal of a restriction from their CDL in accordance with 49 CFR 383.135(b)(7), which includes the no air brake (L), no full air brake (Z), and no manual transmission (E) restriction, are not subject to the Entry-Level Driver Training regulations.
